11:10pm: Three green across the threshold.
A few weeks ago I managed to pass my private pilot exam. (Yay!) Since then I haven't really gone anywhere except to give a couple of rides to people, but I thought that as a good pilot I should continue my training.

After flying the warriors since I started flying I thought that it would be fun to move up to something a little bigger and faster. So I'm starting my training on complex aircraft. In this case, the Piper Arrow. It's got a constant speed prop and retractable landing gear. I spent a couple of hours with my instructor over at East Coast and got my first taste flying it. I haven't had that much fun flying in a long time. It's also true what they say: the faster is, the easier it lands. Also, that plane moves fast enough that you really need to plan ahead and think quickly. Basically you have to do a good job of managing your workload.

3:00pm: Where are my flying cars?
Right now I'm sitting on a bus. And I'm on the internet at the same time. The future is now. (I guess if I went to find some naked ladies while on the bus, the future would be x-rated, too.).

As we're driving through New York City, Joe is letting his apple search for access points. We've only been on the bus for a few minutes so far, but he's already picked up over 300 access points (and counting.)

12:14pm: It's getting warm in here.
At the 2003 GNOME Summit this weekend. It's kind of strange hanging out in a basement with a bunch of other like-minded geeks. OK. Maybe not so much strange as disturbing. There were probably a hundred people in this room last night. After a while, it was warm. And there were interesting smells. I think I have a good feel for how people might have felt crossing the Atlantic in the mid-1700s.
