sugar mailing list

We’ve set up a mailing list for the sugar interface. We consider “sugar” to be most of the desktop stack. That is, what the experience is, what tools we have on the laptop, what libraries are included and how you write applications.

Things have been ramping up. Marco and Dan Williams have been hard at work after the last design review working on the next demo. Diana has been working on new mockups that reflect the current design thinking. Instead of tabs, we’re attempting to move to full screen windows and switching activities is done from a special key on the keyboard. Switching activities will probably look something like this.

The idea being that your desktop environment is more like a home page; keeping track of what you’re been doing and what people around you are doing as well.

Marco has also moved us to a system that uses Xephyr and has started pulling matchbox for a simple window manager. This means instead of running it on your desktop environment you can run it inside of a small screen so that you can get a good feel for what it will look and feel like.
