I guess someone had to do it. It was only a matter of time. A Novell ad for Linux that is a parody of the Mac vs. PC ad. And they chose the obvious: a hot girl to play the part of Linux.
A few weeks ago, without knowledge that such a campaign was in production, Jesse and I were discussing such an ad and who would play that part. My choice? Christopher Lloyd. Wearing this for a hat during the commercial.
Well, GNU/Linux is flexible ;-)
This woman portraits SLED, Doc Emmett brown could portait other aspects :-)
Nice adds.
BTW: Does that mean you can get her for free?
There’s a second ad in this series as well:

Linux is the girl AND Doc Brown. The girl represents the image that many Linux companies are looking to portray and Doc represents what many users/developers see in Linux.
But then Linux is also a midget in Mac’s pocket (mobile devices), a waiter in a tuxedo (web server), Einstein (scientific computing – think VERY different) and much more.
Don’t forget that Linux runs on Mac and PC too so those two are in for a costume change.
You guys might be overthinking this particular post. :)
Honestly I doubt that, /. might be reacting way to much on that one.
Third ad now online:
