Nice to see so much converage – wonder how slow the Internet will be once it’s released though?
Polish Gazeta.pl published an article on FF3 this morning, but with a link to RC3 as an “official” FF3… It wasn’t very clever of them.
I’m told for a while that the ZDNet article that I just posted included a link to 2.0.0.14 or something. I think they fixed it, though. :)
mine is already acting as if was dial up, keeps disconnecting :(
WOO!
45 minutes till download day!
i’m so there!
anyways, i can’t wait.
Some Mozilla-servers can’t handle the request right now, 30 min before the official launch. It would be very interesting, if 2mio downloads are possible in the next 24 hours. ;)
I posted about it yesterday (http://blog.bull3t.me.uk/archives/applications/firefox-3-download-day/)! There is only 17 minutes to go!
oh my god, THATS WHY THATS HAPPENING?!
my net keeps doing the exact same thing. last night, it was going crazy…
i had to wait 15 minutes, then refresh, then it would work for like 1 minute, then go down again.
this might shutdown the net…
10 minutes to go! I’m so excited!
One minute!
It’s TIIIIME!
I want mine too, but I cant see even the webpage :DD
Pingback: Van den vos Firefox
I think not yet–the twitter at http://twitter.com/mozillafirefox hasnt posted it yet.
I think the Firefox website might have gone down under the strain, can anyone get to it?
Spreadfirefox seems to be down! :( And now we wait.
Never mind, it’s just seems very slow, The main site still has FF2 as the big link at the time it loaded for me.
I can’t get to spread FF either
spread ff has been down for at least 45 minutes now (from what I know)
I can’t either- they should’ve prepared for this better…
Yeah…everything seems to be down..i guess they should have prepared better if they want the world record and to release in time..yet i wait
Yea I can’t get in too, i saw this comin’, hope there’s still time to get it before 24 hours past :x
wow its already 10:20 am here in Pacific time and no Twitter update… I wonder what went wrong or if they have a different time :o :).
they need to setup some mirrors or this will take forever
They already have download mirrors-but no website mirrors I think.
i hope they’ll make their record :/
Internet is going to be really slow for a while guys. All Mozilla websites have hit the dust as well. Seems like something went wrong too. Strange that the Mozilla Firefox Twitter isn’t keeping us updated though.
i’m sure they did somethin about it, it’s obvious things like this would happen, a million goin to the site and downloadin
i’m on the http://www.firefox.com page and it shows the same download link for Firefox 2…no good on http://www.spreadfirefox.com though
air.mozilla.com is giving updates about progress. Apparently 100,000 downloads so far – so some people are getting through.
Finally got getFirefox to finish loading (after 30m) and it’s still at 2.xx and a 3 preview as well. Probably cached from somewhere.
As for the twitter…the guys probably can’t GET to it from anywhere in their domain.
They’ve engineered a world record Friendly Fire DNS attack! :)
Thanks RichB, air.mozilla.com seems fun haha
Go get it now!
http://download.mozilla.org/?product=firefox-3.0&os=win&lang=en-US
getfirefox.com is down….. wonder how they ll make the record this way…
Should they not have taken care of scaling issues when they want to make a record of maximum traffic !!!!!
I have been waiting to download ever since…
For linux:
http://download.mozilla.org/?product=firefox-3.0&os=linux&lang=en-US
Thanks for the links, guys
Looks like the first link is release candidate 3 still….
it’s a release candidate 3 link,not final
well the second one for linux is final–idk why the first one would not be.
do the above links support the Record setting goal?
don’t know..the developers said not to follow link to their FTP servers
http://blog.mozilla.com/blog/2008/06/17/
http://www.spreadfirefox.com/en-US/worldrecord/
seems to work now, download firefox 3 button is there, but it took me to the old page, only firefox 2 and firefox 3 RC3 available
finally some news :P
As an Update this is the new message I get from spreadfirefox.com
One hopes they get the servers either upgraded or post some new links on the twitter. otherwise they will have issues making the record in 24hr’s.
“Connection Interrupted
The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.
The network link was interrupted while negotiating a connection. Please try again.”
The blog mentions that servers are suffered overwhelmingly and quoted:
“The 24 hours period will be clocked from that moment.”, from the moment the server is up again?
read the latest link..a mozilla dev says the servers will be live shortly and the 24 hours will be clocked from that time
Oo this is exciting…and it’s 2am here
I just got an Email Linking me to this site http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/?p=downloadday It’s a bit slow loading for me, but it oesn’t seem to have crashed yet…
