this is what the mozilla community looks like

Developers, managers, execs, testers, translators, qa folks, build folks, admins, artists, interface designers, HR people, sys admins, community development folks, and many more. Pretty awesome. And this is just the tip of the iceberg.

    Hmm. It’s worth noting that this is just the subset of the Moz community that can make it to a rather expensive conference on the west coast of the US; if the Mozilla community is anything like the open source communities I’m a part of, that leaves a _lot_ of people out, particularly those of us in Europe and Asia.

    Sorry. Venting a little here — I know you ended the comment with “just the tip of the iceberg”, so you’re aware of the issue, but every time conference season rolls around I get reminded of it…

    @Justin Mason:

    You are correct, except for the “rather expensive” part and the “U.S.” part (Vancouver is in Canada). Mozilla paid the way for everyone who attended, so it was a matter of people being able to get out of work or other commitments and being willing to come, etc. There was a rather small (percentage-wise) limit on the number of people invited, too, so yes, there’s a LOT of people from the community who aren’t there.
