the theora cookbook

Adam Hyde and a small team of people got together in Berlin and wrote up a really great cookbook for people who want to understand Theora, codecs and the issues around open video.

It apparently clocks in at a whopping 212 pages. Hats off to Adam and his crew!

What do you think of the google acquisition of on2 with relation to open video and html5?

  2. Honestly it’s too hard to tell. Until Google makes its intentions clear we’re all just speculating.

Anything that needs a 212-page cookbook has, well, issues.

O’Dear, I think you’ll find that pretty much every O’Reilly book out there approaches or surpasses 212 pages. I suspect it’s because when you’re writing a book like this, providing all the details matters because you never know which ones your audience will be missing or will want. I wouldn’t look too hard at that number, to be honest, particularly if you consider the effect images have on that figure.
